Sean’s journey in the field of social work is marked by his dedication to giving back and enhancing the lives of individuals struggling with substance use and mental health challenges. His academic achievements—graduating with honors from Adelphi University with both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work—reflect his strong commitment to excellence in the profession.
During his internships at Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICAAD) and Network Support Services, Sean actively contributed to 12-week reentry programs designed to support individuals transitioning back into society after periods of incarceration. In this role, he facilitated group sessions and supported men and women in overcoming barriers, rebuilding their lives, and developing the tools necessary for long-term success.
As an engaging and knowledgeable speaker, Sean participated in Circles of Support, using his lived experience to give back through speaking engagements. He also shared his expertise in the academic setting, serving as a facilitator within Cornell University’s Criminal Justice Program. There, he educated students about the complexities of addiction and provided insight into the inner workings of correctional systems, probation, and parole.
Sean’s personal mantra, “It’s not what you start; it’s what you finish with—building a foundation for the rest of our lives,” reflects his belief in the transformative power of perseverance and resilience. In his professional work, he strives to empower individuals to pursue their goals, secure employment, obtain stable housing, and become productive members of society despite significant obstacles. Having been given a second chance himself, Sean is deeply committed to extending the same opportunities to others who are struggling with the disease of addiction.
Through his work, Sean emphasizes that many individuals, like himself, have overcome adversity and are now actively working toward making their dreams a reality. His overarching message is one of compassion, accountability, and support. This reflects his belief in the inherent dignity and worth of every individual and his commitment to building and strengthening a community where care, opportunity, and understanding are accessible to all.
